Let go of the past; Be better today.
We’ve all heard someone say, “just let go.” If you find yourself doing a massive eye roll every time you hear this, you aren’t alone.
Why? Because of all the obstacles that people face, letting go of control, and trusting the process of life can be difficult for people to accept.
Think back to a time when you weren’t in control. How did it feel?
Our hearts and souls may know that letting go of control is best for us, but our ego craves it because we want to win the fight! However, there comes a time when enough is enough.
Albert Einstein got it right — “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
Here lies the problem… the more we try to control things, the less control we actually have. We believe that taking control will bring us security and happiness, yet its overuse causes unhappiness, anxiety, and sadness.
As humans, we are always trying to control our environments, but we forget that the only person that we have control over is ourselves.
Sometimes this sends people into an obsessive spiral. They do everything in their power to hang on for dear life to something that will make them feel that they’ve got it under control when really they are losing themselves in the process.
You always have a choice of how you will react to something. It all comes down to your mindset.
“You must learn to let go. Release the stress. You were never in control anyway.” ~Steve Maraboli
If you want to achieve freedom, you need to let go of the outcome and surrender to what will be. Surrendering is a choice. You need to ask yourself, “Are you ready to peel back the layers of control?”
When we surrender, we stop resisting life.
Controlling everything is exhausting because it’s a losing battle. You keep pushing to achieve the outcome that you desire, but the world keeps pushing back. This cat and mouse game ends up killing our energy and leaves us feeling like we are constantly trying to stay afloat.
What can you let go of today that will allow you to find freedom?
